About
Interactive Athens was founded to create opportunities for everyone in the Athens community to experience spontaneous play.
Artistic Director, Paige Keane, got her B.F.A. in Acting from Breanu University and has spent her life writing, producing, and performing in plays.
During her time at university, she connected with Jeff Wirth, a pioneer in the field of interactive theatre. He introduced her to a world of storytelling she had never experienced and didn’t know was possible. Unrehearsed audience members who weren’t actors could be the central characters of a partially scripted and partially improvised play? It was absolutely electrifying.
After graduating from university, Paige moved to Austin, Texas, to study interactive theatre technique with Jeff as part of a nine-month performance research program called The Interactive Deep Dive.
She and eight other players wrote and produced interactive plays while further developing interactive performance techniques. Audience members were invited to play lead characters alongside professional actors in highly participatory theatrical experiences.
One of the group’s projects, The SimuLife Diaries was featured in an article by Bryan Bishop in The Verge.
As a part of this program, Paige also wrote and produced a one-woman interactive play, Kick Drum.
Interactive Athens seeks to establish this vibrant college town as a hub for the transformative and innovative art of interactive theatre.
